About KMSD (UK)

In 2002 under the name of KMNW, Tony Bradley, a certified Israeli Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) and International School of Krav Maga (ISKM) instructor formed the first Israeli Martial Arts Academy teaching Krav Maga in the North West of England.
Since that time Tony has continued not only to train with leading representatives from the Krav Maga Association of America and the Israeli Krav Maga Association but has now also become a certified Kapap instructor with the International Kapap Federation.
He firmly believes that as Krav Maga and Kapap become more and more well known and as more people start to learn of their effectiveness as self defence systems then so will the number of “false” instructors who lay claim to teach the Israeli systems. In truth if an instructor is not able to prove directly his or his clubs links to Israel then he has no ground to teach any of the Israeli Systems. It is no secret that many of the techniques used in both Krav Maga and Kapap can be found in use in other systems such as kick boxing and BJJ but to have learnt just these techniques is not enough. The thing that make the Israeli Systems so effective is the mind set and attitude of the defender and an understanding of this can only come from knowing and understanding the Israeli’s attitude to life and their instinct not only for personal survival but for the State of Israel too.

Adrian Pyke is a time served practitioner and graduate of both the Krav Maga and Kapap defensive systems and was one of KMNW first students. With over 8 years of experience in the Israeli Martial Arts Adie has trained not only with KMNW but has attended numerous seminars and courses hosted by the likes of Amnon Darsa of the International Krav Maga Federation and Avi Nardia and Albert Timen of the International Kapap Federation. Having trained in various styles including karate, kick-boxing and Ju-jitsu before Krav Maga Adie say's that Krav Maga and Kapap are by far the most realistic and streetwise systems available today, the fact that they are used by the military, police and security forces worldwide means these systems work. Its an honour for me to be the first Instructor to graduate at KMSD (UK) and by becoming an instructor i feel this is a new stage in my understanding of Krav Maga. I sincerely hope that i can bring as much enthusiasm and knowledge to each class as the instructors who have trained me do. Adie is currently teaching out of our Eccles Training Centre

the club to keep his personal development training updated.
Having trained in various styles before Darren stated that “ Krav Maga and Kapap combination offered here are by far the most realistic systems available on the market today, I personally know military, police and security personnel that use these systems and they all say the same thing “It`s a fast, simple, safe and effective way of dealing with any threat or potential threat, this system works”.I am proud to be an Instructor, sharing my knowledge and understanding within my local community, I only hope I can inspire people to be as passionate about their own self protection and that of their loves ones as I am. Daz is currently teaching from his Training Centre located in Chapel En Le Frith. For more details visit www.DerbyshireKravMaga.com
Paul Stonier's passion for health and fitness was ignited at 16 when he started to take rugby seriously. The fact that his training had a specific goal enabled him to structure and develop training plans that not only developed fitness, strength and balance but also set his determination to succeed. Often overcoming severe injuries he knows the importance of a strong mind set and what it takes to win. With a BSc in Sports Sciences and several other qualifications in sports, performance and nutrition Paul and Krav Maga go together like bacon and eggs.
In his own words "I've been training Krav Maga for 7 years initially with KMNW and now with KMSD (UK). Having no previous martial arts experience I found the simplicity but effectiveness of the training fantastic. Due to a variety of rugby injuries I was concerned that I would not be able to learn and develop at Krav Maga, but one of the greatest aspects of the system is that it focuses on what you can do - if you can’t kick to the head then don’t! The sheer variety of drills and techniques used builds your confidence in the system, but its always stressed that sometimes the best thing to do is the simplest! Becoming an instructor with KMSD (UK) has given me the opportunity to develop and enhance my own skills through teaching others. I now incorporate the drills and techniques with my personal training clients. I currently offer one to one sessions throughout south Manchester and Cheshire. These sessions can either be ‘Pure Krav’ - a very technique focused 40 minute session or ‘Krav Conditioning’ where technique will be interspersed with some high intensity conditioning work." Footnote
For some time now Krav Maga has become a buzz word in the self-defence community. Instructors and clubs recognise that the name alone attracts students looking for an effective and easy to learn self-defence system and as such, particularly over the last year the "British this" and the "Association of that" along with the "Federation of all being" have formed in an attempt to officialize their clubs and to give credence to their systems. In the world of martial arts and self-defence there is a great deal of illusion and fakery. Even the various Federations and Associations born in Israel argue amongst themselves with regards to each others qualifications to teach Krav Maga and as such irregardless of paying £5.00 or £50.00 all students should check the qualifications of A) their instructors, B) their clubs and C) their Federations/Associations. Recently during a conversation about our next trip to Israel a new student told how he was gutted to had just missed out on some Krav Maga Training in some European country. I had to remind the student Krav Maga does not come from Europe. It comes from Israel in the Middle East, one of the most openly contested regions in the world and a hotbed for terror. If you want to train Krav Maga go to source! if you cant go to source then make sure your club or instructor does! Krav Maga isn't just techniques, its a mind set and attitude.
In the Israeli martial arts it is said 'It is better to remain a student of reality than a master of illusion.
